Once a second-rate superhero, Harvey Birdman is now a third-rate lawyer, with bad knees and a bad-attitude, working at an upscale law firm. It’s not clear whether Harvey ever went to law school, but he definitely knows the lingo and has a nice suit – even if he still insists on wearing his superhero get-up underneath.
As defender of ‘toons in trouble’, it’s his job to keep Shaggy and Scooby-Doo out of jail for possession, represent Fred Flintstone over alleged Mafia connections and lead the trial of Yogi Bear’s sidekick Boo-Boo, suspected of being notorious eco-terrorist: ‘The Unabooboo’.Release Date: 7th December 2009

TV Review – Merlin Series 2, Episode 8: The Sins of the Father
Posted by geeksyndicate on December 2, 2009

Pfennig has been a bit busy this week due to zombie velociraptor attacks or some such nonsense, which she will soon have sorted. I’m the understudy reviewer, and I’m afraid I’m more rambly and less chronological. Don’t worry, guys, she’ll be back soon.
Heads up: this review is pretty much one giant spoiler.

Another Doctor Who Waters of Mars review
Posted by geeksyndicate on December 1, 2009
This review was orginally posted as a comment by Darren Baker to the orginal Waters of Mars review by Andrew. As it was a great contrast I thought it would be cool to post this up as well.
Over to you Darren.

DVD Review – Aqua Teen Hunger Force – Season 2
Posted by geeksyndicate on December 1, 2009
Aqua Teen Hunger force is a cult animated TV show, shown as part of the Adult Swim programme block and is about the unlikely mis-adventures of three superhero friends who just happen to be fast food. Now if that first statement is too much for you this probably isn’t the show for you, so move along quietly please.

Comic Review – Phonogram ‘Rue Britannia’
Posted by geeksyndicate on December 1, 2009
Phonogram ‘Rue Britannia’
Written Kieron Gillen
Art Jamie McKelvie
I bought this trade on the recommendation of a friend (a hairy man who helps out at the Fetishman stall – known to some as Mavis.) A fine recommendation it was too.
The main character is David Kohl (and interesting name considering the use of eyeliner in the story.) He is a phonomancer – a mage you uses the power in pop records to empower magic. He starts the story as like many an occultist and non-occultist alike, having opened his mind chakra but with his heart chakra clamped closed. He uses his abilities for personal gain. He has a swagger and arrogance that anyone who has ever been part of any nightclub scene while recognise like the smell of dancers sweat, pre-smoking ban stale air and unsanitary toilets.

TV Review – Fringe Season 2 Episode 9 ‘August’
Posted by geeksyndicate on December 1, 2009

This is perhaps my first series mythology heavy episode of Fringe. I am a little wary of these in case it goes all X-files which became a bit like ouroboros – the symbol of a snake eating its own tail. I try and keep spoilers to minimum but it’s going to be hard.

Movie Review – Paranormal Activity
Posted by geeksyndicate on December 1, 2009
Answer this one question, what’s better, to see the horror? Or to imagine the horror? Your answer to this question will dictate what you think of this film.
This film is not a blood and guts horror movie, let’s get that straight right from the get go, there is very little blood and no gore. It is not a movie that is going to have you jumping in your seats like the trailer suggests, this movie wants to creep you out bit by bit making you more and more uncomfortable in your seat.

TV Review: The Sarah Jane Adventures – Season 3
Posted by geeksyndicate on November 30, 2009
A third season of Sarah Jane and in a Doctor Who light year how did it fair?
The acting of the regulars was of the normal quality which is to say 99% better than most child acting or acting for children but not at the peak. Some of the guest stars did have a tendency to go all ‘play away’ (surprisingly not Floella Benjamin reappearing as Professor Rivers of the Pharos Institute.)
