The geeks shall inherit the Earth or so the saying goes. And you know what? It will probably all start in San Diego. Last week, Mirjana and I attended the biggest annual geekfest in the Americas also known as San Diego Comic-Con International and had the time of our lives — even with the enormous crowds!
Over the next week or so, we’ll be posting up photos from the panels we attended as well as some interviews with the casts of Torchwood: Miracle Day and Merlin. First up is preview night, which is supposed to be less crazy than the rest of the convention. They lied!
If you’ve never been, this is the night to explore the exhibit floor, get yourself acquainted with the layout of the convention center and witness people (and possibly yourself) lining up for the exclusives that are being sold. My favorite part is seeing the tons of props and replicas from my favorite movies and shows. There was a DeLorean from “Back to the Future”, Green Lantern’s lantern, and my absolute favorite was (of course!) the full-sized replica of the TARDIS at the Quantum Mechanix booth. I may or may not have bounced around like a kid on Christmas when I saw it!
Apologies for the late reviews, folks, but Comic Con completely took over my life these past two weeks. I hope to be fully caught up within the next few days. There will also be a bonus post with pictures from the Episode 3 screening at Comic Con, at which we were surprised by the cast. But for now, “Rendition” and “Dead of Night.” Warning: Contains Spoilers.
Devil’s Island is a moody, humid story of the notorious French prison camp off Guyana set in the 1870. It is a rich story with a heady feel of corruption and regret.
This little game caught my eye because a) there are mid-air cartwheels and b) killer robots killing other killer robots. This is a mobile game made by Uppercut games. There’s little more information than that at the moment.
This week, the Planet Express Team learn that by drinking the liquid that the heads in jars live in, they can travel back to the time when the head was alive. Unfortunately, the Professor learns that he has one distant relative who disgraced the family name, and when he tries to rectify this, he changes history more than he imagined. Are you familiar with Wesley Snipes? White Men Can’t Jump? Jungle Fever? The Blade Trilogy? Tax evasion leaning to prison time? Wesley Snipes has a career that reads a mile long, and he has adding an iOS game coming out in August, while he is “out of action.”
There is a trailer for this game, entitled Julius Styles: The International. This is made by Lapland Studio, maker of iPhone and Wiiware titles. Julius Styles looks to be just like Wesley Snipes’ later works, as in a low budget, straight to DVD affair. The first trailer is out, and it shows no gameplay. Wesley Snipes has bills to pay, so let’s hope it’s good.
So what happens when you secret base is exploding around you (it happens more often than you think) and you need to make a fast getaway while still making it seem that your utter defeat was part of your strategy?
Anyone who’s a regular listener of the Geek Syndicate podcast will know this is possibly the greatest news I have ever reported! Read the rest of this entry »
So, four episodes into a 10 series run, and I think it’s fair to maybe start drawing some broader conclusions about Falling Skies. Episode 4 falls into a very similar format to episode 3, making me think that perhaps this is going to be their model, anda couple of unexpected moments (and one fairly expected one) started to confirm my overall feeling towards to the show. So, lets take a look.
I’m not really a heavy Metal fan (Eye of the Tiger doesn’t count right?) but this Motorhead inspired Lord of the Rings T-shirt from RIPT Apparel is enough to make me rethink that position.
So the eagle eyed team over Collider have managed to pull out some images from the trailer and I think they show that the very quick teaser shows off a lot, including a proper look at Bruce Banner.
I got to admit I didn’t see Marvel doing this but I’m guessing with the leaked trailer doing the rounds pretty much everywhere they thought what the hell.
