TV Review: Fringe Season 3 Episode 22 ‘The day we died.’
Posted by clarkythecruel on June 29, 2011
Fringe comes to the end of its third season and despite the Cast’s Atlas like efforts to shoulder the increasing weight of the show’s mythology one can feel a strain. If anyone shrugs they’ll notice spoilers aplenty in what follows.

Trailer: Misson Impossible – Ghost Protocol
Posted by geeksyndicate on June 29, 2011
You’re mission, should you decide to accept it is to see how many scenes this trailer can cram into two minutes.
Well there were enough scenes in this trailer to make you think this film might be cool and worth a watch. I do hope we see another trailer soon as this one was all over the place, for me. I’ve never been a fan of the quick cutting action scenes and this trailer is using this techique like it’s on steroids. Also sometimes a good bit of a rap in a trailer for an action trailer can work well but hell it just feels forced in there.
The cast looks suitably slick and it looks like there’s a lot of money being throw at this but for now I’ll wait for a better put together trailer before I really get excited.
Personally I wish this series would go back to roots of what the orginal series did so well. In those shows there was less emphasis on action and big stunts and more slick, stylish capers where the goal was to mess up the enemy without them knowing you were there. In these films it’s difficult to be working ‘under the radar’ when you spend most of time blowing up building and killing a lot of bad guys.
Maybe a few more viewings and the trailer will grow on me.

Star Wars Galaxies is coming to an end
Posted by edgeyx on June 29, 2011
Sony Online Entertainment and LucasArts have announced that after eight years Star Wars Galaxies will be closed down by the end of the year.
With this being the first MMO to be set in the Star Wars universe the hype was huge however the game made a few missteps that caused it not to be as popular as first thought. The biggest one being their update in 2005 called “New game enhancements” that simplified the game to appeal to a larger audience of people who may not have played other MMO’s before. The hardcore players did not take this too kindly and ended up leaving the game for other MMO’s. Read the rest of this entry »

Warner Brothers still want to make a Green Lantern sequel
Posted by edgeyx on June 28, 2011
As most people that have been to see Green Lantern will agree this film shouldn’t have a sequel. You would have thought the box office failure causing them not to make back the massive amount of money they spent on this film would be enough to cause them to rethink. But apparently Warner Brothers where not put off by this and still intend on making the trilogy they first promised. Read the rest of this entry »

Pixar’s Brave gets a Trailer
Posted by geeksyndicate on June 28, 2011
Although the trailer doesn’t give much away it has an epic vibe about it that has already got me looking forward to seeing more about this film. The sign of a good teaser trailer.
Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In “Brave,” a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts.
Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Wise Woman (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late.
Directed by Mark Andrews (“The Incredibles,” “Ratatouille,” “John Carter of Mars”) and Brenda Chapman (“The Lion King,” “Prince of Egypt”), and produced by Katherine Sarafian (“Lifted,” “The Incredibles”), “Brave” is a grand adventure full of heart, memorable characters and the signature Pixar humor enjoyed by audiences of all ages. The film takes aim at cinemas in 2012, and will be presented in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters.

True Blood Season 1 Episode 4 – She’s Not There
Posted by brogen on June 27, 2011

At the end of season 3 of True Blood, Sookie was transported to a mystical world where her fairy godmother, Claudine, told her that she is a fairy. Nothing is ever boring for old Sook, is it? We rejoin Sookie where we left off. She has just entered this world, and immediately things go wrong for her. When she returns home – after only a few minutes – a year has passed and the people around her have changed.
Jason is a cop and when he is not trying to keep Andy Bellefleur’s V habit in check, he is looking after the weres in Hotshot. They mustn’t like him though; they lock him into a massive freezer… It’s turned off, but still. Tara has decamped to New Orleans, become a cage fighter, changed her name to Toni and is dating a girl. Seems her experiences with Franklin caused her to switch teams. She is still angry and sassy though, so there’s that. Lafayette is still with Jesus, who is trying to force him to join a magic cult, led by a very creepy Fiona Shaw.
Bill gave up on Sookie and is now dating Portia Bellefleur and getting involved in politics. There is also a hint that he is King of Louisiana. Wouldn’t that be interesting? Arlene and Terry are dealing with Renee’s baby – doesn’t help that they think the child is evil, Hoyt and Jessica are still together and Sam is still prickly and gruff. Eric is the only one who did not give up on Sookie being alive. In fact, in a rather eerie move, he bought her house from Jason in the hope that if he owned the house he would own her.
Phew! Quite a people and action packed first episode of True Blood. No major story line has emerged yet, as such, but it is a sure bet that the fairies are going to be trouble, as are the weres in Hotshot. There are a lot of characters to catch up with, now that we have got into the fourth season of the show, so while we learned some new information this week, it was more about catching up with where everyone has gone.
We should not despair yet though. True Blood has fantastic writers who have a knack of pulling all the threads of a story together, so sit tight and wait for the threads to emerge. They are there, we just haven’t noticed them yet.
Welcome back, True Blood! If this season is half as good as the ones that have gone before it, we are in for a treat.
