Next year you’ll get to either relive the experience or see why it’s a cult classic when Beyond Good & Evil HD is released on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. This will be the same game released in 2003, only now it will have 1080p visuals, the character models are receiving makeovers, textures are being polished, and the soundtrack is being re-mastered. Achievements/trophies and online leaderboards have also been added.
Beyond Good & Evil was created by Rayman developer Michael Ancel. It has many gameplay elements in common with The Legend of Zelda including puzzle dungeons, vehicular transport to different parts of the game world, an intuitive combat system, and even heart containers. You play as Jade, a 20 year old scraping by as a freelance photographer. Her home, the island city of Hillys, is under attack by a sinister alien race, the DomZ. Jade is recruited to help expose a massive conspiracy and try to put an end to the war.
Publisher Ubisoft has yet to announce price or a release window (other than 2011) for Beyond Good & Evil HD.
According to Entertainment Weekly’s Mike Ausiello, Bryan Fuller is now developing a reboot of ’60s sitcom, The Munsters for NBC. Ausiello reckons he’s been told it’s going to be a combination of “Modern Family meets True Blood,” which sounds intriguing, to say the very least.
Mike Auseillo does warn that only a pilot has been ordered so far, but also hints that Guillero Del Toro may serve in some behind-the-scenes capacity.
I already have my fingers and toes crossed I really hope this series gets a green light.

Tolkien Gestures is one Sci-Fi nerds adventure into the strange mystical worlds of Fantasy Literature. Over the course of a year I’m reading 20 Fantasy Novels spaced over the life of the genre. This week, we reach the Great Fantasy Boom of the 1980s, and the one of the first great Revisionist stabs at Arthurian Myth.
News has come out today about the eagerly anticipated Arkham City and some of the gameplay features and enhancements from the awesome Arkham Assylum.
The Riddler collectibles (returning from the first game) have been refined somewhat:
“… the location of his biggest secrets are known only to him and people he’s told. Rather than unlocking their locations using maps, Batman will be able to scan a gang of thugs to find a potential informant.”
Once an informant is identified, the challenge for the Dark Knight becomes this: Keep the informant conscious while simultaneously beating up his associates, so that after the combat is done interrogation can begin.
With the free-flow combat, I reckon this could be a tad frustrating at first. The player will have to really concentrate on their motion around the combat arena to ensure the informant is relatively unharmed.
Now. I feel like hitting Challenge mode in Arkham Assylum and picking one goon to keep until the end. Just for practice. Anyone else?
The trailer actually looked pretty decent but on saying that it kinda reminded me of the first trailer I saw for ‘Jumper’ and no that’s not a good thing. Still it’s definately got my interest up to see more.
Below is the synopsis from the book on this the film is based.
John Smith is not your average teenager. He regularly moves from small town to small town. He changes his name and identity. He does not put down roots. He cannot tell anyone who or what he really is. If he stops moving those who hunt him will find and kill him. But you can’t run forever. So when he stops in Paradise, Ohio, John decides to try and settle down. To fit in. And for the first time he makes some real friends. People he cares about – and who care about him. Never in John’s short life has there been space for friendship, or even love. But it’s just a matter of time before John’s secret is revealed. He was once one of nine. Three of them have been killed. John is Number Four. He knows that he is next . . .
Blimey they really are pushing the darkness angle for the the first part of the conclusion to the Potter saga. If you think I’m kidding then check out these latest posters Warner Bros have just released.
According to the Latino Review he has and it’s in the form of Jared Harris, the son of the late, great Richard Harris.
Now so far the studio haven’t stepped forward to announce this officially so file it in a draw marked rumour for now. Personally I hope this one turns out to be true as I’ve saw Jared in Fringe as David Robert Jones and I thought he was a great baddie and will make for a good, if not great Moriarty.
